NanoDesu Project 38 – Goshujin-sama wa Yamaneko-hime
Hello! It’s me! Glasses hikaslap-chan!
Sometimes I feel like NanoDesu Translations is a rolling stone, gathering moss… or a ship gathering barnacles, except these barnacles are more great light novels, translated with passion! So we have another one, don’t we? Let’s see what it’s about!
Shin’ya Seirin, the noble-born good-for-nothing, living in the Engi Empire. When he finally gets a job it’s as a tutor for some foreign princess…
The youngest princess of the Shimur tribe, Mine. Still thirteen, innocent and demure – except not at all. She is actually a spoiled brat of a royal, who throws a tantrum every time something doesn’t go her way. Nickname “Wildcat”. For some reason really likes Seirin and runs him ragged daily.
Then, just when poor abused Seirin finally gets used to his new job, supposedly peaceful Shimur tribes declare war on the Empire. Now he’s forced to choose between two sides of the conflict. Can this become the first step on his road to greatness?
– Summary from back of the book
Boxywood, your translator, is a funny person. I don’t know how much being funny will help them write a good translation, but nevertheless I’m excited to see the rest of this story! Boxy says that it’s about a lot of things, but the main thing is it’s a story about growing up. For a fuller summary, you can go to this post, written by the translator.
As for the puzzle I wrote last time, it’s best to start with the quiz on the bottom. The correct answers to every question are labeled with the number 13, and since the word Caesar shows up 3 times, you can suppose there’s a Caesar shift of 13 letters involved somewhere. The place to apply it is in the scrambled title of the song, which says “Letter Shapes”. Indeed the music notes make the shapes of letters if you turn your head, spelling out Y A M A N E K O.
